Book Review: One of us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
As a 33 year old, I went into this high school mystery with very low expectations. I figured I’d find whiny, overprivileged kids who used ridiculous slang, who would heighten stupid arguments with teenage mood swings, and care about insignificant things like prom or football.
I am happy to say I was very wrong!
I found characters that I didn’t hate! Characters with substance! A plot as thick as peanut butter and delicious betrayals worthy of Gossip-Girl. Every chapter that voiced one of the Bayside Four had uniqueness and different struggles that I really could feel.
Simon was murdered, and there was only 4 other kids in the room. It’s clear that someone is pulling the strings of each suspect, and the mystery that unfolds is brilliant.
I loved it from beginning to end, I couldn’t put it down. I lost sleep because I had to know WHO WAS LYING!!! 5/5.
